Whiteshell Baptist Church is a conservative evangelical church which had its beginnings in 1903 and joined the North American Baptist Conference in 1906. We celebrated our 100th birthday in 2006, celebrating God's faithfulness through the century.
On average we have approximately 80 in attendance on a Sunday morning. Our church has a high senior population, who provide stability to our church. Being that we are in cottage country we also have the 55+ group that are moving to the area to retire.
We typically have higher attendance in the summer than in the winter months because of our location, bringing in cottagers and campers to our services. Even though we do not have a lot of young families in our church we have an AWANA program with approximately 30 children attending from age 3 to grade 6. Our youth program is mostly attended by non-churched teens from the surrounding area.
Our congregation is comprised of people from Seven Sisters, the Whiteshell Provincial Park and other surrounding communities. We have many active volunteers and leaders committed to the ministries of our church, which includes adult, youth and children's Sunday School, nursery/toddler program, Women's Ministries, AWANA, youth program, and DVBS. Many of these programs are doors of opportunity to reach into the surrounding communities.
We have at least four different music groups that provide variety in our music ministry. Many of our musicians are younger, keeping things upbeat and current. There is also opportunity, at times, for children to participate.
We are associated with the Nutimik Baptist Camp in the Whiteshell, providing various ministry opportunities for our congregation and a great camping experience for our children.
In March 2012 we moved into our new facility, built in 2011/12, with seating for approximately 200.
Our church dedication service in May 2012 was a celebration of God's faithfulness in bringing us through the devastation of a fire in 2010 and moving out of the old hall that served as our meeting place in the interim. Our new church building is on one level with a lovely sanctuary, a great sound system, and a beautiful stainless steel kitchen, to mention just a few features.
Whiteshell Baptist Church is situated in the RM of Whitemouth, in the community of Seven Sisters Falls, just outside the beautiful Whiteshell Provincial Park.
