Denomination: Christian Brethren
Uddingston Gospel Hall is an independent assembly of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that through repentance and faith in Him, all may receive eternal life and the forgiveness of sins. We hold to all the fundamentals of the evangelical faith as outlined in the Word of God, the Bible.
What we believe
The Bible
The Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are the verbally inspired Word of God, inerrant, infallible and the authority in faith and life. (2 Tim. 3:15-17; 2 Peter 1:20, 21; Psalm 19:7-9)
The Condition of Man
Man was created by God in His image and likeness, without sin. Adam sinned by breaking the law of God and as a result his race fell. Man inherited a sinful nature and is spiritually dead. Because of sinful acts he is guilty before God and under His condemnation. Man is incapable of remedying his lost condition or securing his release from divine condemnation. (Gen. 1:26; 3:1-24; John 3:17; Rom. 3:10-18; 5:12; Eph. 2:1-3)
The Person & Work of Christ
The Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man without ceasing to be God. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin in order that He might save sinful man. He voluntarily gave Himself as a sacrifice on the cross thereby satisfying the demands of God’s righteousness against sin. He gave proof that He accomplished that sacrificial work to God’s glory by His bodily resurrection from the grave and His ascension to the right hand of the Father. He is the only mediator between God and man. (John 1:1-2, 14, 18; Luke 1:34, 35; Rom. 3:24-26; 8:34; 1 Tim. 2:5-6)
Salvation
Salvation is the gift of God’s grace given to all who repent and believe on His Son. Salvation is from the penalty, power, and presence of sin and it puts people in a right relationship with God. It is solely the work of God. Salvation cannot be gained by good works; it is a free gift for all who put their trust in Jesus Christ and His finished work on the Cross. All who trust in Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord are forgiven, saved from their sins and declared to be righteous in God’s sight. They are born into the family of God by the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit. God’s purpose in saving His people is that those who are saved bring glory to Him by their lives and that they will eternally be conformed to the image of His Son. (Eph.1:7; 2:8-9; John 1:12; 2 Cor. 5:21; Phil. 1:6; Titus 2:11-14; Rom. 8:29-30)
Eternal Security & Present Responsibility
All those who are saved by God’s grace are kept by His power and are secure in Christ for ever. True faith in Christ is expressed by a fruitful and God-pleasing life. (John 10:27-29; Rom. 8:29-34; 1 John 5:13; John 15:8)
The Second Coming of Christ
Believers await the personal, imminent return of the Lord Jesus Christ to the air for His Church and His subsequent return to earth to establish His kingdom. (1 Thess. 4:13-18; Zech. 14:4-11; Rev. 19:11-16; 20:1-6)
