Denomination: Lutheran Congregation in Mission for Christ - LCMC
St. Paul's is a small church that's having an internationally-recognized impact. It is changing the Twin Cities and the world through its extensive missionary program, its MissionShift Institute (formerly the School of Urban Ministry), the MissionShift DVD Series and the Urban Cross-Cultural College Consortium (U4C) Urban Studies program of Northwestern College, Crown College and Concordia University.
Looking for a megachurch? We're the opposite. Doug Grow of the Minneapolis described us as a "green beret" congregation- highly trained, highly committed, and highly involved. We've got a history since 1872 of training people and sending them out around the world. We're not here to "play church."
Worship is blended; every Sunday we have people from five generations and four races. Preaching is solidly based on the Bible, with an emphasis of teaching you to read, understand and interpret Scripture within the solid, historical, joyful, freedom-loving Reformation tradition.
We don't have programs for every need; people of all ages work together, and strangers are readily incorporated into the congregation. We have many small-group cell groups including AA, men's, women's and other groups.
If you want to remain a stranger, are into "consumer Christianity" and seeing going to church as being like going to Walmart- we're just not into that. We just have a delightful time of intensely getting the work of the Kingdom done.
We're a great church for beginning Christians, but are focused on helping Christians to maturity and growth in their personal ministry through advanced training.
A third of our members live within three miles of our church, a third live within six miles and the rest live all over- Eagan, Lakeville, Shakopee, Chanhassen, Plymouth, Maple Grove, Maple Plain, New Brighton and Roseville.
State-of-the-art electronics, sound and video, and the feeling of a small town church- yet with an urban program that's internationally recognized. We also share our building with Latino and Oromo-Ethiopian congregations. Come and see!
