Our History
As Macedonians continued to immigrate to Canada, many made their home in the City of Hamilton. The community began to grow. The idea of opening a church was a possibility for local Macedonians. The Macedonian Community was in search of a place where they could practice their religious traditions, enjoy their culture and provide a place where the community could gather socially.
On July 1st, 1970, a church was purchased by the community. It wasn’t until 1971, however, that St. Naum of Ohrid officially opened its doors to its congregation. Its address – 235 Kensington Avenue North.
And that is how our story began.
