St John the Evangelist welcomes Christians and those who seek to understand Christianity in the Ashton-under-Lyne area. Our aim is to make contact with and encourage others to join us in our life-enhancing Christian journey.
St John the Evangelist at Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester is a friendly Christian community where we welcome others to join us in our worship and service to God. Our emphasis is on learning and understanding the Bible and following the example of Jesus and his followers.
The vision of St John the Evangelist is to make an impact for God, here in Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester by helping people understand the enriching messages of eternal hope given to us by Jesus Christ through His words and deeds. Come just as you are - we'd love to get to know you better.

A chance to join our church choir or just come along to enjoy singing hymns and other church music.

Activities and fun for girls aged 5-7yrs during term times

Brownies
Activities and fun for girls aged 7-10yrs during term times

Office Hour
Church members welcome all enquiries about our church, future events and bookings for Weddings, Blessings & Thanksgiving for the birth of a child, Baptisms. Enquiries or bookings can be made in person or by detailed and signed written request to the Vicar.

Every Tuesday at 7:00 PM for ½ hour
Wednesday
Hurst Junior Choristers
Junior Choristers (min age 8yrs) sing together, in parts and solos in preparation for future church events, plus work to complete exercises in reading and writing music, working towards their next RSCM awards.
The Choristers take part in our services on the second Sunday of every month, plus celebratory services in the church year.
Every Wednesday at 4:00 PM for 1 hour
Thursday

Every Thursday at 10:00 AM for ½ hour
Thursday Club
Social club for the more mature members of our community proving refreshments and a chance to meet and chat. Regular activities including outings, talks and demonstrations - small entry fee.
Every first Thursday at 1:00 PM for 2 hours
Little Footsteps Toddler Group
Learning and fun for toddlers - must be accompanied by parent/guardian. Meet during term time. NB 1st Thursday of every month meeting is at Hurst Methodist Church.

Coffee Morning
Friends of St John's Church welcome everyone to their Coffee Morning - enjoy a chat over a drink and good food, including toasted teacakes, bacon butties and corned beef hash! Every 3rd Saturday. Bring your friends too! 50p entrance fee includes cup of tea/coffee and a biscuit.
