Denomination: Independent Evangelical
In 2003 Southlands started in Horley, Surrey. God called a small group of friends together to be a base for the gospel here.
The passion was to show the love of God and of Jesus Christ, in word and action, Sunday through Saturday.
Southlands has become affectionately known to our partner ‘churches for Horley’ as ‘The church on the move’. Here’s why; From 2003 we hired a School hall for our Sunday meetings until 2007 when we took on and renovated an old office building in Salfords, (North of Horley) as our base building. The chapter there came to a fiery end in 2011 when arsonists burnt the building down, after a short time without a base building we took on a new base building right in the centre of Horley. Due to town redevelopments our chapter there came to end in Jan 2015. We are currently using the Lee Street Church building facilities in Lee Street, Horley.
Over the years we have been blessed to have so many diverse people join with us, businessmen, plumbers, farmers, decorators, engineers, preachers, musicians, IT boffins, teachers and the like. On the journey, we have become really multi-national too! Our members have in their own worlds been ministering in areas such as helps and care ministries into schools, new mothers’ lives, vulnerable children, homeless people, broken homes and evangelistic ministries to name but a few.
