Simcoe Street United Church aspires to be a beacon of Christian faith and caring radiating from downtown Oshawa
We are not a confessional church.
We do not ask our members to confess any particular doctrine other than to declare their faith in God our creator, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour and the Holy Spirit, our teacher and guide.
Our Ministers declare that they are in essential agreement with the doctrine as laid out in the basis of Union as a prerequisite of Ordination or Commissioning.
This means that the United Church is quite likely the freest thinking religious body on the planet! The framework of orthodox reform theology is there to guide and inform, while offering members and affiliates to come to know God in an amazingly diverse range of experience and expression.
