Denomination: Roman Catholic
Thanks be to God. Upon Fr. Peter Chin's recommendation in 2013, I was invited by His Eminence Thomas Cardinal Collins to establish a fifth Chinese Catholic community in Toronto. Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the blessing of Fr. Mike Weiler, the Jesuit Provincial of California, the Sacred Heart Chinese Catholic Mission was founded.
My sincere appreciation goes to Fr. Ivan Camilleri, Chancellor of Spiritual Affairs, and Msgr. Thomas Kalarathil, Director of Clergy Personnel & Chaplaincy, at the Archdiocese of Toronto. With their indefatigable support, our first Cantonese Mass was held at St. Aidan Catholic Church in Scarborough on October 5, 2014. I am also thankful for the assistance Fr. Joseph Sultana, the pastor of St Aidan Church, offered us.
In the past year, the faithful have been enthusiastic in participating in various activities. Their zealous involvement in worshiping God and caring for each other have gradually made the Sacred Heart Chinese Catholic Mission a faith community filled with mutual love and care.
I am grateful for the generous support of the members of the Pastoral & Finance Councils and all the faithful to help build the Mission. Let us continue to work together for the greater glory of God.
May God bless you with good health and much happiness, and may God's grace be with you always.
