Narraweena Baptist was born in 1953. Almost 55 years ago, a few from the Dee Why Baptist and nearby areas had the vision of starting a new Baptist community at Narraweena - literally up the wee hill. They began with tent meetings and outdoor Sunday School classes, and progressed to incorporate a thriving Girls Brigade ministry. There was a huge youth activity of both boys and girls as well. So began the foundation of Narraweena Baptist Church. The members manually built the permanent church building as well which was finally opened in 1960. Since then, other halls have been constructed.
The most valued features of our church however were not the buildings but - lives centred on loving, caring relationships between people, and nourishing times when there was vital and authentic preaching and worship. There was enrichment when good expositional teaching and combined activities involving mixed generations were provided and embraced.
People worked together to build up the church and engage in outreach activities, including an emphasis on supporting overseas missionaries. Across most questions, the importance of loving, caring relationships along with vital teaching / preaching and worship, was emphasized.
We have lots of friends, and excellent family connections, and we like the work we do. There were some of us in Business, Finance, Accounting, Teaching and Educational professions, Emergency and Service and Trade industries and Retail and Corporate world. Some of us are Counsellors and some home makers and so we enjoy OUR one to one relationships, having coffee and chatting together about things that REALLY matter in LIFE. Some of us enjoy travelling and have travelled around the world! So we do have some world experiences we are open and can share with anyone from all backgrounds.
