Denomination: Community Church
Welcome to Metropolitan Community Church of Albuquerque! At MCC Albuquerque we are creating a loving and supportive community that will sustain and nurture each one of us through our life journey. We celebrate God's love that is found in each person.
When you come to MCC Albuquerque you will experience a worship service probably not like the one in which you "grew up." We offer a blended style of worship which encompasses a variety of music and sermons which are relevant to our lives today. This is a church open to all people. Most of the people identify with the lgbt community, but we also have "non-gay" allies who have joined us on this incredible journey! We welcome all people!
We are part of Metropolitan Community Churches, a worldwide denomination that was founded in 1968 by the Rev. Elder Troy Perry, for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community. We offer a safe and open community for people to worship, learn and grow in their faith. We celebrate God's diversity that is expressed by people from all races, creeds, ages, cultural backgrounds, gender identity and sexual orientation.
We continue to be in the forefront of civil and human rights issues and a powerful voice in the LGBTQ movement for equality. MCC provides a message of liberation from the oppressive religious environment of our day.
We are passionate about serving our community and our ministries include:
Providing food on the weekends for forty students from a local high school, who would otherwise go hungry.
Providing financial assistance for those in the community who need funds for rent, utilities, medicine, food or other needs.
Hosting an outreach to the homeless community, providing food and toiletries.
Meet with people who need support in the "coming out" process, or who have issues with their sexuality and spirituality.
Respond to over one hundred calls a year from members of the community who have questions, challenges, or need resources during a difficult time.
With the passing of marriage equality in New Mexico, we continue to provide wedding ceremonies for the community. For couples who are out of state, we provide two witnesses for their ceremony and have made arrangements with a local hotel for reduced room rates.
Our building is home to other LGBTQ Groups such as Under 21 Youth Group and 12 Step Recovery Programs.
