Denomination: Assemblies of God
We are a multi-racial group of people being transformed by God’s amazing grace & power, given to us through faith in His son Jesus. God is very real to us and involved in our day-to-day lives. We belong to the Assemblies of God in NZ, a network of 252 Churches. In 1971, after graduating from Bible School, Pastor John Ashton arrived from Lower Hutt to begin this church. His ministry style was casual, but powerful with signs & wonders. Many young people experienced God for the first time and became excited about living for God, forming an enthusiastic congregation. Then in 1979 Pastor Kem Price came and consolidated the Church with strong teaching & prophetic input. A builder by trade, he organised the construction of the Church facilities at 778 Gladstone Road which took 5 months to construct with volunteer labour. Kem left to lead an Auckland Church in 1984, and his assistant, Gary Stevenson was appointed, and is the present Pastor. In May 2000 we moved to new premises at 82 Grey St, right in the heart of the city.In our Sunday services we enjoy lively music, a relaxed friendly atmosphere, and practical, challenging messages. We have been implementing the G12 cell group structure. This enables weekly connecting at a personal level, with the aim to encourage each other to win the lost, nurture the new believer, and release them into all that God has for them. There are other groups operating, providing support & practical help.We warmly invite you to check us out.
