Denomination: Disciples of Christ
MISSION
The purpose of this Church is found in God’s Word: to ”make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything [Jesus] has commanded (Matthew 28:19-20),” to “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind, and to love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:37-39 NIV) and to “devote ourselves to teaching, fellowship, the breaking of bread and prayer” (Acts 2:42 NIV)
VISION
I see an authentic, relevant family of faith sharing life and love in the name of Jesus Christ.
VALUES
Intergenerational mission and ministry (Luke 1:50; Psalm 78:4) - Children, teens and adults of all ages share all aspects of church life, including worship. We take seriously the recurring Scriptural mandate to pass on the faith to the next generation.
#knownandnamed (3 John 1:14) - We strive to be the kind of church where "everyone knows your name." While we do break up into small groups from time to time, we find deep community in the entire Body of Christ. Our fellowship with one another reminds us of how wide, long, high and deep the love of Christ is.
Knowing, serving, following, worshipping and believing in Jesus Christ (John 3:1-21; Matthew 25:31-46; Romans 10:8-15) - "If anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation; the old is gone and the new has come,"(I Corinthians 5:17) but discipleship (following Christ) is much more than a conversion experience. It is surrendering one's life and one's will to "take up the cross" and follow Christ. Faith is very important, but Christ's followers are revealed by the fruit they bear (Matthew 7;16) and the lives they live (Romans 12:1-2). This holistic approach to discipleship is what it means to be "born again."
Praying, praying and praying some more (Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 4:6-7) - Prayer is not a bookend at CCC. It leads and undergirds everything we do. Everything.
