Denomination: Baptist
Our Mission:
To love and serve God and make Him known to others.
To enrich lives by providing a regular point of meeting for people in our community.
Benalla is a small rural, agricultural city with a population of about 14,500. It is located approximately 180km north east of Melbourne in North East Victoria.
We are a small-town church and are part of the BUV (Baptist Union of Victoria). Our average congregation on a Sunday would be about 55 people. While many of our congregation live in town, some also live out of town up to 45 minutes away.
We are a mixture of ages and social backgrounds. We have some Primary and Secondary kids, not many young adults and quite a number of people aged 50 and upwards. As well as worship services on Sundays, we offer the opportunity for Study Groups, Prayer meetings and Children’s Ministry. We currently support two missionary families – one of those is working with MAF (Mission Aviation Fellowship) in remote northern Australia, the other in Turkey. We also support other discretionary missionary work as circumstances arise.
Our Community Outreach is largely achieved through The Olive Tree, our Op Shop, where people can come in to shop, meet some friendly faces, have a chat, and enjoy a morning tea break with our volunteers. The Olive Tree donates 100% of its funds to charitable organisations locally and further afield. Each year we also support Prison Fellowship by supplying them with home-made cookies.
At Benalla Baptist Church we seek to build up our fellowship in Christian love. We desire to proclaim Jesus through faithful living and proclamation of the Word. We encourage and welcome the involvement of our children in the weekly gatherings where possible.
Visitors are always welcome and regularly comment that they find us to be a warm and welcoming church fellowship.
