Welcome to St Johns

One of the oldest, 1782, Methodist churches in the world, our village chapel is on the edge of the Peak District in North Derbyshire. It is Grade 2 listed, and very much a living church with a small, regular and caring congregation. Our weekly Sunday services are at 10.45am (though Messy church - see below - starts at 10.00am). Monthly evening services, generally of a reflective nature, are at 6pm. We are part of the High Peak Methodist circuit churches.

We take a full part in circuit and village life, and welcome anyone to join us, regularly or occasionally. A full range of activities are offered. The chapel has an induction loop, wheelchair access, and a disabled toilet. There is a car park, and a small garden, which is kept as a quiet outdoor space. The church has a Fair trade stall, stocked with Traidcraft goods, open before and after our services. We also run an annual shoe box appeal, and have recently been a collecting point for clothing, toiletries etc for the "Hope for Refugees" project.

Music is provided by either a pipe organ, a digital piano, or good quality recordings. All are welcome and resources activities are available within the church for children.

Mornings at 10.45 am. The style is informal within a traditional structure. Details of Messy church and evening services are given on the home page.
