St Andrew welcomes Christians and those who seek to understand Christianity in the Wigan area. Our aim is to make contact with and encourage others to join us in our life-enhancing Christian journey.
St Andrew at Wigan, Lancashire is a friendly Christian community where we welcome others to join us in our worship and service to God. Our emphasis is on learning and understanding the Bible and following the example of Jesus and his followers.
The vision of St Andrew is to make an impact for God, here in Wigan, Lancashire by helping people understand the enriching messages of eternal hope given to us by Jesus Christ through His words and deeds. Come just as you are - we'd love to get to know you better.

Service Times

Sunday
Sunday School [Andy's Kids]
Takes place in the parish centre every 3rd, 4th & alternate 5th sunday from 9.50 am. Classes not regular outside term time, especially during the summer holidays. Children start in parish centre and are brought into church after the session in time for holy communion on the 2nd and 5th weeks. On the 3rd Sunday they will be collected by parents from the Parish centre. Parents may stay with children or attend the church service. It is 50p per child to cover costs. On the 2nd Sunday of the month we have the All Generations Service and children and parents are most welcome to join us. The Uniformed Organisations parade with flags and the Guides take on Special responsibilities. On the first Sunday we have Café Church in the Parish centre and all are welcome to join us at this service, which takes the form of a short simple visual service geared towards children as well as adults. We take time out for tea/coffee/juice and toast and a chat before resuming our closing prayers. We have a craft table for the children. Music by Andrew Lord on keyboard and Ken Rees on guitar.
Every third fourth and fifth Sunday at 9:50 AM for 40 minutes
Cafe Church
Will take place in the Parish Centre. Service taken by Lay people and served with breakfast. Come along and join us in a relaxed and casual form of worship. Prayers, readings and visual presentation followed by tea, coffee, juice and toast, and closing with prayers. Craft table for children. Music by Andrew Lord on keyboard and Ken Rees on guitar. All welcome.

Every first Sunday at 10:00 AM for ¾ hour
Sunday Services
10 am is the regular new time for our single Eucharist service on the 2nd Sunday, which is the All Generations Service including Church Parade by the Uniformed Organisations with the guides taking on special responsibilities and also on the 4th Sunday and occasionally a 5th Sunday we will have a Eucharist service at 10 am.

Service of the Word. No Eucharist at this service. Service led by parishioners. At this service we will try to include any special events/services eg Pet Service

Monday
Bingo
Open to all - come along and enjoy a chat and an afternoon with friends. Tea/coffee & biscuits provided in the interval. Books of 6 games available @ £1.00 per game. Door raffle and main raffle.

Tuesday
Trimform
Takes place in the Parish Centre. Event run by Petra Plumb, qualified instructor. High impact aerobics.

Mothers' Union
This occurs on the first tuesday of every month except during July & August. Leader - Margaret Anderton. Talks, visits, outings, meals, parties, demonstrations, business, games, prayers,

Slimming World

Wigan Family & Local History
The Wigan Historical Society meet once a month on the 2nd Wednesday in the upstairs meeting room at our Parish Centre, new members are welcome. More information on the notice board in the porch.

Exercise Class
Follows Slimming World and is run in conjunction with the Health Advice by Wigan Culture & Leisure Trust. A short session of exercise to compliment the Health and Dietary advice.

Rainbows
Rainbows will now take place in the Parish Centre on Thursdays from 5 pm - 6 pm. Regularly during Term Time.

Parent & Toddler Group - BRIGHT STARZ
Open to babies & toddlers and their carers. Drinks & biscuits with entry fee of £2.00. Additional costs for toast 20p and extra drinks 50p. Adult with more than 2 children - extra. The group is run by Rebecca Chesworth 07718 917140 and is now called BRIGHT STARZ

Women's Fellowship
Meetings take place in the Parish Centre and organised by Barbara Knowles for the more mature lady. Outings, meals, bingo, talks, entertainment, business, prayers, demonstrations and bring & buy. Refreshments served during meetings. Meet on the 2nd & 4th Thursdays of each month except in July & August, when it closes for the summer, starting back in September. All welcome.

Exercise class taking place in the Parish Centre in addition to the Tuesday class.

Zumba
In the Parish Centre. Qualified Instructor - Steph Moss. Energetic dance moves with exercise combined to upbeat music. Suitable for all ages. Work at your own pace. New routines available at regular times. Come along for the fun.

Open to all young ladies between 10 - 14 yrs. Lots of enjoyable things to do - crafts, working for badges, outings, camping, baking, BBQ, pizza nights, chippy nights, games, fun nights, discos, treasure hunts, sponsored events. takes place in the Parish Centre during term time. July & August closed for summer. Captain = Joan James. Assistants = Carole Hilton, Laura Fenton & Ruth Halliwell.
There is now a Senior Section in the guides for young ladies aged over 14 yrs. This is a separate group and will work apart from the main group, doing written coursework and research.
