Saint Anthony Mission

Roman Catholic

Saint Anthony Mission, Hubbards, Nova Scotia, Canada

The first St. Anthony’s Church was built in 1937. However, by the early 70’s it was too small to meet the needs of the growing Catholic population in the Hubbards area. It was decided to build a new church and so a Campaign Committee was formed under the leadership of the then parish priest, Father Lloyd O’Neill.

The new church was built and the official blessing by the Most Reverend James M. Hayes took place at the 6:30 pm Mass on Saturday, July 30, 1977. The new St. Anthony’s was to serve the communities of Allen Heights to East River inclusive, the communities of the Blandford peninsula and also the many summer vacationers.
