Saffron Walden Methodist Church
Methodist
Saffron Walden is a market town north of Bishop's Stortford. The Methodist Church had a small but strong church fellowship which offered a friendly welcome to anyone who wished to share in the love of the Lord. A music group and the use of puppets often enhanced worship. Audio visual and deaf loop were in regular use.
It was a caring congregation with support given to one another and concern for the wider world. It was a Fairtrade church and had achieved two Eco-congregation awards. Close links were being forged with Saffron Walden URC - joint services were held regularly as well as prayer meetings and social events.
Through Churches Together, members of the Methodist Church were involved in school assemblies, residential home services and Christian Aid events. Groups attached to the Church included Girls' Brigade (Monday evening); Ladies Group (alternate Tuesday Evenings); and Women's Fellowship (Thursday afternoon).
Saffron Walden Methodist Church closed on Palm Sunday 2014, but many of its congregation are now worshipping at Abbey Lane URC in Saffron Walden
