Pickering Methodist Church – our Mission Statement
Together with other Christians we seek to share God’s love in Christ through word and deed. We aim to do this by:
underpinning everything we do with God-centred worship and prayer, offering relevant ways for exploring and expressing faith
engaging with existing building users and extending the range of activities offered
using our building as a community resource – open for prayer and friendship
seeking to make our building environmentally friendly, safe, attractive and welcoming to people of all ages
holding our heritage with respect: caring for our tradition and learning from it
supporting community initiatives that serve those in need locally and further afield
We believe that to participate in the above is to engage in the mission of God.
Mission is the participation of Christians in the liberating mission of Jesus. It is the good news of God’s love, incarnated in the witness of a community for the sake of the world.
“Mission is quite simply, though profoundly, what the Christian community is called to do, beginning right where it is.”
Transforming Mission, David Bosch (2000)
