Immanuel Lutheran Church
Lutheran Church
Immanuel Lutheran Church is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Synod – the ELS (not to be confused with the ELCA) – serving Detroit Lakes/Audubon, Minnesota and the surrounding area. We have been around for 125 years (see our History).
We are a church that offers a message not only for the heart but also for the mind. This message centers on the person of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who entered history and by his suffering, death, and resurrection acquired forgiveness for all sins, provides new life and guidance, and grants the gift of heaven. Here the entire Bible is taught as the true Word of God and Jesus is offered as the only Savior in a desperate and dying world. This message is not only a conviction that is personally believed, but an objective truth that is defensible and brings strength, encouragement, and peace that are real and lasting to all who trust in Christ.
We teach and believe that God, through Word and Sacraments, offers to us these blessings Christ won for us. The Bible directs us to God’s Word and Sacraments so we do not have to be groping about wondering where we can find forgiveness, life, and salvation. These blessings offered through these means of grace then have to be personally received. The means through which we receive these offered blessings is not some work or virtuous trait within us, but faith alone – trust alone – in the person and work of Jesus Christ. This faith God himself creates within us by Word and Sacrament.
