Grace Fellowship Church
Non-denominational
Grace Fellowship Church was born in the summer of 1978 by a group of families who had been driving to the northeast side of Indianapolis to worship. They desired a meeting place on the West side of Indianapolis and decided on the Speedway home of one of their founding members.
The attendance in those early meetings was greater than planned and the church moved into the clubhouse of an apartment complex near High School Road and 46th Street. Later, the group met in a day care center and area school buildings. Between 1990 and 1998 Grace Fellowship met in leased facilities at 188 N. State Road 267 in Avon (at the intersection of 267 and Rockville Road behind McDonalds and Kroger). After twenty years of wandering the West side and suburbs of Indianapolis, Grace Fellowship Church moved into its own church facility in Avon during the fall of 1998. The fire on January 5, 2003 totally destroyed this building. We rebuilt our church building and held our first service Christmas Eve 2004.
The church still focuses on what is said in its name—the grace of God revealed in Jesus Christ and the fellowship of the people of God. Grace Fellowship is a non-denominational church that emphasizes the teaching of the Bible. Pastor Warren Burns has been with the congregation for 25 years and has seen the church grow from just a few families. Pastor Jeremy Wright joined the staff of Grace Fellowship Church in 1999.
Service Times
Sunday morning worship service begins at 9:30 a.m.
Grade school children through adults gather in the auditorium for a time of singing and sharing. The Lord’s Supper is celebrated every other week.
All preschool children through kindergarten meet together in their classrooms for instruction and expression during the worship service.
Nursery is provided for little ones under 2 years of age.
Just before the message grade schoolers through 8 th grade are dismissed to their classes.
The meeting lasts about an hour and half.
On most Sundays the Bible is taught verse-by-verse through one of its books. There are several reasons we do this:
It helps Christians see the flow of Scripture.
It is how the Bible was written.
It prevents the preacher from riding a “hobby horse.”
It keeps the preacher from focusing on certain needs and neglecting larger truth.
Christians can profit be seeing each book of the Bible as a whole.
We believe this style of preaching is the best way to assist believers in growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. (2 Peter 3:18)
