Welcome to Church of the Holy Spirit, Crawcrook and to St John's Church, Greenside. We are a friendly, lively Anglican church.
The Parish of Greenside belongs in the Diocese of Durham and is located 9 miles west of Gateshead, in the north east of England. Within our Parish are two churches. St John's in Greenside is a more traditional building and Church of the Holy Spirit in Crawcrook is a more contemporary one. The distance between the two church buildings is only a mile. We worship as one congregation and previously alternated each week between the two sites. However at the moment we are worshiping on Sunday the mornings at Church of the Holy Spirit, Crawcrook, as this building allows us to maintain social distancing better and hopefully allow us to worship safely.
As a church, we aim to be faithful to the Good News of the Holy Scriptures. We believe in the authority of the Bible as the true revelation of God. It is our experience that the Gifts of the Holy Spirit are for today and we seek God's wisdom in using them for the glory of His name. We believe the purpose of our Church is:
'To grow God's Kingdom by knowing Jesus and making Him known'
