Church of Our Saviour
Episcopal Church
The Church of Our Saviour was started as a mission by the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Virginia, as they looked to expand into the rural areas of Chesterfield County. They enlisted the assistance of the Reverend William Gerow Christian, who was known to Episcopalians in the area, born and raised in Powhatan. On September 1, 1966 the first service was held in the home of Dorothy Charles. She later donated the land on which the church now resides.
The existing Sanctuary was built by hand, by members of the congregation. The first service was held on Palm Sunday, April 7, 1968. From a living room Sunday service to a mobile home, and then to the buildings which now exist, the Church of Our Saviour was born. We refer to ourselves as a family. We started as a close knit community and remain so today. You automatically become a part of us when you walk through our doors.
To get a real feel for Church of Our Saviour - our worship, our fellowship, and our "All Are Welcome" community, we invite you to step through our doors on a Sunday morning and share in Holy Eucharist with us at 10:00am. It will feel like home very quickly.
