Christ the King welcomes Christians and those who seek to understand Christianity in the Bowburn area. Our aim is to make contact with and encourage others to join us in our life-enhancing Christian journey.
Christ the King at Bowburn, County Durham is a friendly Christian community where we welcome others to join us in our worship and service to God. Our emphasis is on learning and understanding the Bible and following the example of Jesus and his followers.
The vision of Christ the King is to make an impact for God, here in Bowburn, County Durham by helping people understand the enriching messages of eternal hope given to us by Jesus Christ through His words and deeds. Come just as you are - we'd love to get to know you better.
Service Times
Sunday
Parish Mass
Our main Sunday service: a celebration of the Eucharist/Holy Communion with hymns, choir and sermon and Catholic ceremonial. There are Sunday School activities for children at the same time and refreshments afterwards.
Every Sunday at 11:00 AM for 1 hour and 5 minutes.
Wednesday
Mass
A short, simple celebration of the Eucharist, with refreshments available afterwards. On the 1st Wednesday of each month the service includes the Sacrament of Laying on of Hands and Anointing for the Sick
Every Wednesday at 9:30 AM for ½ hour
Friday
Mass
A short, simple celebration of the Eucharist: an opportunity to come to Holy Communion especially for those who work on Sunday mornings.
Every Friday at 6:30 PM for 25 minutes
Saturday
Coffee Morning
Tea, coffee, scones, raffle, delicious home-made cake stall, all in aid of church funds... Come and join the fun!
Every third Saturday at 10:00 AM for 1 hour
Evening Prayer and Benediction
The Office of Evening Prayer followed by Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament: an opportunity to worship the Lord in his Eucharistic Presence and prepare ourselves reflectively for Sunday.
Every last Saturday at 5:30 PM for 35 minutes
