Christ Church - St. Michael's Parish
Episcopal Church
A vibrant faith community grounded in history and open to the future. We are inclusive, caring, active and engaged in proclaiming the good news of Christ to all God’s people.
Whether you are new to our community or just visiting, we welcome you to find rest and spiritual nourishment at Christ Church. We are a vibrant faith community grounded in history and open to the future. At Christ Church we are inclusive, caring, active and engaged in proclaiming the Good News of Christ to all God’s people.
Christ Church has stood at the heart of St. Michaels for over 350 years offering leadership, guidance and sacred space to an ever-changing town and community. Originally established in 1672 as a mission of the Church of England, we became part of the new Episcopal Church at its creation in 1789. Of course, we have changed over time. Our current beautiful edifice, built in 1878, was completely renovated and restored in 1989 and our new parish house facility was completed and dedicated in 2005. Both of these structures serve as a means to invite and welcome others to join us in celebrating and praising God.
We at Christ Church are a highly diverse group; some of us veterans, some quite new, and many of us are in between. Year-rounders, weekenders, retirees, young families, and life-long residents, each of us belongs to the community of Christ Church. On any given Sunday, approximately 100 people come to worship at Christ Church. Active parishioners number more than 400, with many coming from Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New York.
Christ Church is one of 38 parishes that constitute the Episcopal Diocese of Easton, part of the Episcopal Church of the USA and a member of the 85 million member worldwide Anglican Communion.
Through worshiping God, we at Christ Church feel called to seek and to serve Christ in all persons and to strive for justice and peace among all people in our community, the nation, and the world.
